Sam Krahn is a Chicago based guitarist, composer, and teacher. For the past 12 years, he's been playing guitar in rock bands, classical ensembles, and as a soloist. Sam earned his Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Guitar Performance from Boston University in 2004, where he studied with John Muratore and Peter Clemente. He briefly pursued a Master's degree in guitar at the Mannes College of Music in New York City, but transferred to Roosevelt University the following semester to complete a Master's Degree in Music Composition.
Some recent solo classical guitar performances have been at the Colby Art Gallery, Frank Lloyd Wright's Henderson House, and the Villa Terrace Art Museum in Milwaukee. In 2004, he was a guest artist in the Boston University Opera Institute's production of "Don Pasquale.” In addition to his performance experience, he has written music in both modern and more traditional styles for various instruments. Most recently, his "Maraca Concerto" for maracas and 8 percussionists was commissioned and performed by Ed Harrison of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Also active as an educator, he has been teaching private guitar lessons since 2004, and currently teaches at Upbeat Music in Chicago and the Academy of Music and Art in Westmont, IL.
